About

In Het Plein ("The Square") in The Hague (Holland)
where the old meets the new -- traditional structures
backdropped by modern buildings.
Incidentally, my 20s is meeting my 30s.

I was 28 when I embarked on this personal writing journey called Reflections of a Nearly 30. Some read it as Reflections of an Early 30, and that can work too, starting next year (2015) when I’m 31.

In this blog, I attempted to document my first European adventure (or misadventures). It’s 68 days of my life as a stranger where English was not native.

This was Europe through my lenses, where I first landed in 2012. These were personal reflections before the big 3-0 which, as of this writing, I'm still looking forward to. Fascinations, wonderment, curiosities, fears, enthusiasm, and all emotions that make the dramas of the closing decade.

(Truth is, I really planned it to be an Eat-Pray thing during a time when I was trying to make sense of where my life was headed, but never really planned the Love part. Interestingly, and by some play of fate of sorts, I ended up engaged 7 months later with a friend of some 7 years. God works in mysterious ways, eh?)

Leave a comment or send me an email (penville@gmail.com) and I promise I won't take it seriously. :)

-30- (this is not a coincidence!)
